A quaint town filled with historic homes, Southport is tucked away on the southeastern coast of the Brunswick Islands right where the Atlantic Ocean, the Cape Fear River and the Intracoastal Waterway all come together. The historic charm of this community will captivate you as you walk under the canopy of 200 year old live oak trees and pass by majestic Victorian century homes. Southport is one of the few towns in the area with a downtown. Banks, antique shops, restaurants, and professional offices line a five block radius in the downtown district. Just outside this district is J.A. Dosher Memorial Hospital, one of the finest medical care facilities in our region. The Southport community is comprised of six municipalities including the towns of Caswell Beach, Oak Island (Long Beach and Yaupon Beach) and the Village of Bald Head Island. It encompasses over 28 miles of sandy beaches and some of the most visible lighthouses in North Carolina. For over 200 years the historic coastal community of Southport has guarded the mouth of the Cape Fear River and continues to be the lightkeeper of the area.
